I had the same problem on Wine 1.8 but upgraded to 2.0 and now it seems to be
gone.

Linux Mint 17.3 (3.13.0-116-generic)
PDF-XChange Viewer 2.5 (Build 321.0) (Mar 6, 2017; 08:33:39)

Wine installed from the package winehq-stable (2.0.0~trusty) in the WineHQ
repository.
