My plan was to get it outside the lock first and, if that's good enough, then
stop there.  If that's not good enough then my thought was to have the mixer
thread manage a dynamic pool of re-sampler threads.  This would be worse than
what we do now on a single core system, so I'd obviously like to avoid that if
I can.

I would imagine that if I attempted to do that then it would get shot down on
wine-devel pretty quickly.
