This issue was never confirmed and is on a very old version of Wine and Smite.
Also, per the now expired blog link Maxwell Draven has attached, peektech.net,
it appears that they got Smite working well until recently (See
http://peektech.net/blog/2017/04/25/howto-fix-smite-internal-error-connecting-to-hi-rez-service-update-error/).
