I apologize for the long time without any updates on this bug, but indeed, as
Louis has pointed out, it ended up being a problem with my GStreamer
installation. A test on another machine with the "ugly" plugin set proved that
the issue was not caused by Wine itself.

Strangely, the Wine PPA does not have the "ugly" plugin set as a dependency.
