Tested in wine-2.9-147-ge5733e7cd4 and Wine Staging 2.9 with the same result:
not much has changed since I opened this bug report, except that the screen is
now white instead of black (that's probably because I'm using a different vga
card and driver).

Native dlls in-use: d3dcompiler_43, d3dx9_41, d3dx9_32.
I disabled the Stardock In-game Overlay (sdnxloverlay.dll) because it doesn't
play well with Wine's dwrite.dll resulting in missing text everywhere
throughout the game.

I noticed however, that zooming out on the strategy map makes the whole map
appear correctly, the problem is that that the map is too tiny to be playable.
When zooming in and out there is a certain zoom level where the screen turns
white. Zooming further out reveals the map correctly.

The sequel, Fallen Enchantress: Legendary Heroes has the same problem.
