I can't reproduce this with wine-2.10 (32bit) on a clean prefix. I went through
the initial conversation with Diego and played on for a few minutes. I'm not
using the Steam version, but also 1.08j.

Just to be sure, have you installed the directmusic DLLs or tried disabling
music altogether (musicEnabled=0 in GOTHIC.INI)? Does the crash always happen
on the first frame?
