I did a binary search through the patches of wine-staging 2.20, and found which
of its 440 patches fixes this bug:  the patch
kernel32-SetFileCompletionNotificationModes.  This patch has one dependency: 
the patch ntdll-FileNameInformation.  With just these two patches applied on
top of vanilla wine 2.20, Battle.net works fine for me.  Without this patch,
Battle.net crashes on startup and gives its own crash reporting window.
