I can confirm this is still an issue for me, at least with amdgpu and Mesa.

Honestly, the section of the map where I load my save game for testing
(somewhere on a hill I think), the lines fill the sky so much that I can hardly
see where I'm going. Far worse than the attached screenshot as the game is
completely unplayable at this map location.
