I just wanted to let you know that this did work for me on my Mac after having
this issue initially. In order to get it to stick i had to actually do a fresh
install of the steam client. I then closed steam and edited the config file as
soon as the updates were done installing and then reopened it and it worked
fine. Hope this might work for you.
