This might be related - I found that the game generates malformed json in
C:/users/username/Saved Games/Frontier Developments/Elite Dangerous/Status.json

Content of this file:
{ "timestamp":"2018-08-30T16:41:25Z", "event":"Status", "":0 }

The last element in this json is "":0 but it should have been "Flags":0
