1) Which Desktop environment and window manager are you using?
2) Does disabling "Allow the window manager to decorate the windows" (on the
Graphics tab in winecfg) remove the window title?
3) You may also try disabling "Allow the window manager to control the
windows". What happens?
4) Out of curiosity: How is virtual desktop less convenient?
