My workaround for the problem has been to boot windows and using the quicken
there to do a print register.  I really do want to get away from windows
completely.
Another option is: 
I found that I can export the print register to an ascii file.  
procedure is:
file->print register-print
change option from printer to export to ascii file. click ok
In create disk file popup select a directory and give the file a name.
This creates a file that is printable for me.
The file created does not put the header on each page, so I edit it with my
editor (I use libreoffice writer) to add the headers.  
I am able to get a print register for each month using this procedure.
