The patches are already linked to this bug; see the "Staged patchset" field.

Whoever intends to submit them needs to be sure that they are correct. In
particular the attached tests seem to me to be poorly written, and are known to
fail on multiple Windows versions.

It's high on Alistair's and my list of things to do, but our list is long. We
certainly welcome anyone else taking up this patchset for us.
