I can also confirm this issue, running on OSX sierra.

Instead of downgrading XQuartz I went for "winetricks settings fontsmooth=rgb",
which is not ideal since the fonts look fuzzy (but at least readable) now:

How can this issue be UNCONFIRMED when there are so many confirmations? :-S
