--- Comment #5 from John <john_a_jones at hotmail.com> ---
As I said before: I'm very new to Linux. I have had disastrous results removing
packages before. So when something works - I am going to stick with it. The
package distribution seems to be working on my LINUX Mint system (Software
Manager and Synaptic Package Manager). Anything outside of that arena is
fraught with issues. Going to the referenced https://wiki.winehq.org/Ubuntu is
a good example of my hesitation.

First statement: "If you have previously installed a Wine package from another
repository, please remove it and any packages that depend on it (e.g.,
wine-mono, wine-gecko, winetricks) before attempting to install the WineHQ
packages, as they may cause dependency conflicts." Give me a break!! I have NO
IDEA what packages depend on WINE! ! ! You would think something would be
provided???? I have NO IDEA what Unintended Consequences might occur if I
remove packages. (Been burned real bad before doing just that!) I do have
applications running perfectly, right now, under WINE. Do I want to expose
those applications to whatever?? Don't think so.

Second statement: "If your system is 64 bit, enable 32 bit architecture (if you
haven't already):" When directions ASSUME a higher level of experience than
what I possess I automatically shut down. This instruction SHOULD explain HOW
to determine the architecture as well as what to do to enable 32 bit... Just
mind boggling the aloof attitude.

I believe the software is available for a 30 day free trial. ECW32.exe is
EasyCAD (Evolution Computing) Contact is John Steen john.steen at cox.net (been
working with him on this issue).

HOW CAN THE PACKAGE DISTRIBUTION MECHANISM DELIVER UNSUPPORTED
PACKAGES??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
