Moving on from my ignorance above and looking further at the 2 log sets that I
have, I believe that I should be able to identify where the problem occurs.
The nature of the symptoms are consistent with a "missed signal" so I'll
obviously be looking for that lack of required synchronisation first.
In my experience, deadlocks are easy to misdiagnose so I need to be
excruciatingly methodical.  It will be several days before I have the time to
give it the necessary hours of attention though.
