reverts fast path for texture blit

Does this patch help by any chance? I tested the issue and found that slow down
is there in my setup too (most easily observed as fps drop from ~90 at login
screen to ~30) and goes away if undo those changes. I wasn't yet tracking down
the exact reason though.
