I just wanted to update you all and took some time to be sure, but once I was
able to get a strong and secure internet connection, I was able to go into the
advanced settings in the Portingkit under FFXI and change the game's wine
engine to a more recent build, specifically Wine 3.0+. I settled on wine 3.5 as
the engine for the game and this has completely eliminated the bugs with the
wired PS3 and PS4 controllers. I have played for days without a single crash. I
hope this helps anyone struggling with the same issues I had.

Thank you all for the support in getting to this point.
