Although it's horribly outdated and many comments are obsolete it still has
some useful info:

Indeed, 'winetricks -q msxml3' works around and lets saved games load.
Likely a dupe of one of the existing msxml3 bugs.

Albeit unrelated to this issue I found the CIV4 GOG.com installer being
horribly slow. It took over one hour to install. Does the installation take
that long on Windows too?
If not, it might be worth another bug report/investigation.
