This is likely a duplicate of Bug #45525 or Bug #45507.

Multiplayer game (including host) is reported to work using the following:

1. Native Direct Play ('winetricks directplay')
2. Delete DPWSOCKX.DLL from the game directory if it is there (HD mod installs
it). This is reported to cause problems on Windows too.
