Of course, I changed R/W permissions for the MS Mouse to 666:

Mouse not detected from hclient.exe

WORKS FINE WITH WINE 2.8 OR 3.3 FOR EXAMPLE
NOTHING TO DO MANUALLY (CHANGES IN REGISTRY OR WHATEVER)
ALSO WITH CROSSOVER 17.5.1 NOT WITH 18.x (USING WINE 3.14)
