Ubuntu 18.04 with NVIDIA driver

wine installed as per instructions. 
succesfully installed mathType.exe
executing
~/.wine/drive_c/MathType$ wine MathType.exe

results in

Although window for MathType appears, any attempt to use it only causes ubuntu
to beep.
Same exe runs fine on windows machine.

I need to run NVIDIA driver for machine learning projects.
