I built wine following the tutorial and using the alternative patch only. I
installed to /wine/patched. I exported PATH with /wine/patched/usr/local/bin as
the first path. When I run wine64 (I used the --enable-64 when configuring) or
winecfg, I get the following text on the terminal:

wine client error:0: version mismatch 586/584.
Your wine binary was not upgraded correctly,
or you have an older one somewhere in your PATH.
Or maybe the wrong wineserver is still running?

There are no wineservers running. Somehow it is detecting my older wine staging
install.

How do I fix this without removing the "proper" wine install?

Various posts suggest that calling the wine binary with a full path should
work, but it doesn't.
