Probably this should look like (BOOLEAN instead of char and strange "\x01"):
    case ThreadHideFromDebugger:
        if (length != sizeof(BOOLEAN)) return STATUS_INFO_LENGTH_MISMATCH;
        *(BOOLEAN *)data = TRUE;
        if (ret_len) *ret_len = sizeof(BOOLEAN);
        return STATUS_SUCCESS;

I suppose it's a workaround for NtSetInformationThread(ThreadHideFromDebugger)
that doesn't save the requested state for the specified thread/
