I use these 2 aliases in ~/.bashrc to archive the same:

alias reset_res="xrandr --output \"HDMI-0\" --mode \"1920x1080+0+0\""
alias reset_gam="xgamma -gamma 1.0"

Please set the proper resolution (1920x1080 is Full-HD) for your system.
