I also had this crash.
You get the crash if you just mount the CD, navigate to it in your file browser
and just click the setup file from there.
This way the game will not remember the correct drive letter for CD access.

Use "wine explorer" first. Navigate to the D: drive in explorer and launch
setup from there.

After doing so, the game starts without any issues.

I would also recommend you to configure this wine prefix to use the virtual
desktop. This game looks much nicer in a virtual desktop window as the
resolution is pretty low.

I've submitted a appdb entry for this.

I guess this bug can be closed.
