How does using the script make this invalid? I can't get it installed
otherwise. (which would be another issue in of itself)

All it does is extract the files from the installer into the installation
directory.

I am using Ubuntu 20.04, and can't use the wine packages from the WineHQ repo,
since there is no packages for focal yet in there.

I am using the wine-development (5.5) package provided by Ubuntu.

anyways, i've done a little digging and it seems the ubuntu package is broken,
