Yes.. but I'd also be quite satisfied and grateful for just working out-of-tree
patches until an absolutely perfect solution emerges after the next one or two
decades ;-)

I looked at it and the thing is that the 3rd patch don't apply after dnd rework
during last years and I'm not familiar with the dnd mechanism and even don't
know whether it is portable to the current tree.
