OK, I tried on another machine.

WINEARCH was set to win32 (otherwise quartz.dll doesn't seem to be registered
properly by winetricks, got some errors at install, where on win32 it seems
fine).

I did run:

WINEARCH=win32 WINEPREFIX=~/.wine32/ winetricks mfc42 vcrun6 wmp9 devenum
quartz d3dx9

Then:

WINEARCH=win32 WINEPREFIX=~/.wine32/ wine Fable.exe

The prefix I used (~/.wine32) is a fresh one that served only that purpose.

Which doesn't seem to suffer from the gstreamer problem. Attached two files:

 - one with cli output,
 - second one with wine debugger trace.
