Executed your suggested commands. The end result is the message:
Running /usr/bin/wineserver -w. This will hang until all wine processes in
prefix=/home/james/.wine terminate

Went on to other things waiting for it to terminate, but there is no indication
that the commands have been successfully implemented or that the wine processes
have terminated.

Do I need to manually terminate wine or reboot to complete the process?
