Backtrace

The S4 installation program runs properly.
When starting S4 without CD then, the settlers splash screen appears and the
program asks for the CD.
Then I insert the CD (which does not seem to be defective).
Then S4.EXE immediately and reproducible crashes with "page fault on read
access".

If I insert the CD before starting the program it crashes without a splash
screen.

Same CD at same computer at real Windows runs properly instead.

...where a similar problem is described.
The file Config/GameSettings.cfg does not exist at my installation, so I have
created it and filled it with only one line: LandscapeHardware = 0
Does also crash.  :-(
By the way: the download link at
https://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=372 is dead.

Then I filled the GameSettings.cfg with the content provided here:

Does also crash. :-(
