This still happens, tried installing Vegas Pro 14, 17 and 19 with Wine-staging
6.20, 6.21 and 6.22.

It does copy files, but at some point during installation it (I assume)
realizes something is wrong, and begins reverting the entire install process;
unregistering DLLs and removes all the files it copied to the install
directory.
Once it has removed everything it copied, it reports success, as if the program
installed without issue.
