on a spontaneous inspiration I now searched without MIME type and surprise -
the CAB files were snapshotted on archive.org as well. For whatever reason
archive.org shows them as 'text/plain' mime type.

That would take ages to download them all.
But even then, I couldn't reproduce the issue back in the old days.
