I am also experiencing this issue, I bisected to
d171d1116764260f4ae272c69b54e5dfd13c6835

All of the cpu usage attributed to Xorg however is actually all kernel time in
nvidia_drv.so, if that helps diagnose where this goes wrong for nvidia's
driver.
