This is a 32-bit application and you probably encountered a common problem for
them related to Out of Address Space. I can only say for the GOG-version of the
game that, fortunately, by default the IMAGE_FILE_LARGE_ADDRESS_AWARE flag is
not set for the executable file of this game.
