Anyway, the original issue might be hard to reproduce nowadays because the
client always tries to auto-update itself upon launch. Adding to that, update
servers (DNS) changed hence if you take a super old snapshot it can't even
auto-update nor communicate with actual lobby servers.

The client underwent several rewrites through the years, switching to Qt -> Qt4
-> Qt5 etc. IMHO not worth digging deeper into.
