I know pretty much nothing about .NET but I've managed to get into the launcher
after using de4dot but when I try to open the actual application it spawns an
infinite amount of crash recovery windows (and I get zero log output from wine
during this)

I used this (also with wine but no issues there):

.\de4dot-x64.exe --preserve-tokens --keep-types --dont-rename -f
'..\Gaea\Gaea.exe' -o '..\gaea_deobf\Gaea-deobf.exe'

Not sure how to find out why exactly it crashes still
