strange msvcrt crash

Msvcrt includes command line parsing to give apps argc and argv -  the
current builtin handling in dlls/msvcrt/data.c is probably the cause of your
problem :

    {
      if (cmdline[end]=='\0')
        last_arg=1;
      else
        cmdline[end]='\0';
