LotusNotes - typed characters do not appear

This bug exists for a long time. See bug 466

There are comments that this issue is fixed in
Codeweavers wine and Crossover Office.

What is the reason the fix is not in the main tree?
If the fix is too hackish I still would like if
information about the cause was added to the bug
description.
