Actually, this sounds like the only universally effective approach.  No 
matter how well you encourage us, or how easy you make it for us, some 
devs will just forget or not care until someone approaches them 
personally and says "so how should this affect the status?"

It may be pestering, but, hey, nobody put a gun to these people's heads 
and forced them to contribute to wine (except Alexandre, who I am 
beginning to think is a POW at CodeWeavers, and may have Viet Kong 
tormentors who make him play Russian roulette for each unmerged patch 
("what part of 'diddy mau' didn't you understand?"))
