Avoid problems with glibc's _res symbol

I'm going to investigate this further. The _res symbol is still
available in the glibc binaries, and they have a policy of only
versioning symbols, not breaking them. I feel there is more to this than
meets the eye, although it's possible the glibc guys screwed up.
