This happens quite a lot on ever version of Windows. I have this
problem on my Windows NT 4 Workstation all the time. TweakUI has the
option to repair desktop icons because of this.
Rant: TweakUI was developed by Microsoft shell programmers that had
access to the Windows source code. If they knew this was a bug you
would have thought they would just fix the problem rather than write a
external application.
