Extracting MSI's

I dont know much about Wine but a friend of mine mentioned that I
could be of some help in this area. It could be possible for me to
create a script that will read an MSI and then recreate the directory
structure needed to run a windows application in wine automaticallly.
I was just wondering if anyone was working on anything similar or had
any views on the issue? I am still unsure as to whether or not its
possible but I am looking into it.
