I've been trying pirates myself to see if I can actually get a DX9c game 
running.  It complains about a couple missing dlls.  Did you actually copy
some in?

As for WoW, I'm pretty sure it already works. I run it with the -opengl switch
because I think it has an opengl mode.  ("wine WoW.exe -opengl")  A while back,
it did not work unless I did that and forgot to test without this latest time. 
I didn't get a chance to log in either because my friend who has an account 
was playing at the time.  Though, it's true I'm kind of cheating by switching 
to opengl and not using D3D9.
