"+1" works with "sort (GNU coreutils) 5.93" here, but is not 
documented in "man sort" and did not work on newer versions:
"sort (GNU coreutils) 6.4" as example: file "+1" not found.

"-k 2" works on 5.93 and is documented:

$ grep "^2007.*>" ChangeLog |  sort -t "<" -k 2 -u | wc -l
56
