I think the bot is horribly confused about applying the patches in the
series. I assumed that the original problem was that the patch set
wasn't properly rebased, but the relevant files haven't changed in a
while, and I can apply the patches from the first and second series onto
a clean source tree without issue.

The second attempt is pretty much identical to the first, although with
series truncation, so I wouldn't mind if the second attempt were just
simply ignored.
