I guess it comes down to unnecessary roughness.
Sure, he was out of line, but AJ had already explained
things to him.  You could have let the guy get the last word in.

It's hard to quantify, but partly as a result of your comment, he seems to
be actively telling folks that the Wine community is rude and unpleasant.

When I was doing lots of interviews at a tech company,
the idea was that even if we were going to reject a candidate,
we would still treat him well, and try to give him a good impression
of the company.  The thinking was that even if we didn't want him,
we might be interested in his friends.   The same idea might
apply here.
