Release plans

Folks,

As we get into the holiday season, it's time for another code freeze...

My plan is that the next release (on December 8) will be 3.0-rc1,
marking the start of the code freeze towards 3.0. The freeze should last
4-6 weeks (depending on how many of you are out on vacation...), with rc
releases every week as usual. This should put the final 3.0 release
around mid-January.
