Other than that, I remember the reason it wasn’t accepted was that I
didn’t provide any tests. I came up with this code by reverse
engineering how Proteus behaved on Wine and on Windows, but I couldn’t
find any reference or a reason for it to expect things this way, so I
gave up.

Have you figured this out? Because I’m afraid this patch won’t be
accepted as it is now.
