I might have missunderstood (quite likely) something here... You guys 
are not talking about making distro's provide packages needed for 
"special wine-only stuff" right?

Are distributions supposed to provide any sort of 
"wine-only-but-can-be-used-for-other-stuff" packages that will be 
required for wine to build/run?
